The post's namesake was Captain Nathan Preston Gregg (1840-1907), Co. M, 11th Kansas Cavalry. He is buried on Orcas Island, San Juan County, Washington.
The post was chartered 4 March 1911 with 14 charter members. The charter was surrendered on 13 February 1925. This Post was associated with Nathan P. Gregg Corps No. 25, Woman's Relief Corps (WRC) which was installed on 22 April 1911.
